DIY: Mon IT Bag

 

Here is a step by step DIY on how to create a fashion shoulder bag made of golden linen fabric and with a leather pocket. The idea of this DIY belongs to me.

Voici un DIY pas à pas sur comment fabriquer un sac mode porté épaule, fait avec du lin doré et ayant une poche en cuir. L'idée de ce DIY m'appartient.

 

Start by cutting 2 pieces of golden linen and 2 pieces of lining having 53cm in length and 44cm in width.

On commence par couper 2 rectangles de lin doré et 2 rectangles de doublure ayant 53cm de longueur et 44cm en largeur.

Pin the edge of the lining on the linen and sew at 1cm. Reverse the fabric and iron it. In order to demarcate the edge, redo the stitching.

On fixe le bord de la doublure sur le lin avec des épingles et on couds à 1cm. On retourne le tissu et on repasse. Pour bien délimiter le bord, on refait une couture.

Now it's best to stitch the leather pocket using your sewing machine with a special needle for leather. I didn't have this special needle, so I chose to glue the pocket. But it is obvious that the pocket is more solid if it's stitched.

A ce moment il faudrait également coudre la poche en cuir à la machine, en utilisant une aiguille spécial cuir. Comme j'en ai pas encore d'aiguille pour coudre le cuir, moi j'ai choisi de coller la poche. Mais il est évident que la poche est plus solide si elle est cousue.

Pin the lining with the linen, except the opening of course.

Superimpose the 4 pieces of fabric as a sandwich: linen, lining, lining, linen. Pin the whole thing and stitch at 1cm.

Here is the result:

On fixe bien la doublure sur le lin avec des épingles, sauf l'ouverture bien sur.

On superpose les 4 pièces de tissus, comme un sandwich: lin, doublure,doublure,lin. On fixe le tout avec des épingles et on couds à 1cm.

Et voici le résultat:

Reverse the bag with the lining on top, and iron the edges. Then stitch at 1cm. I wanted to have the finishing called "couture anglaise", so that the edges of the fabric won't fray.

On retourne le sac avec la doublure à l'extérieur, et on repasse bien les bords. Ensuite on couds à 1cm. J'ai voulu faire une couture anglaise, pour ne pas devoir surfiler et pour cacher les bords bruts de tissu qui s’effilochent.

 

Reverse the bag again, now with the linen on top and iron the edges.Tuck in the edge of the bag and stitch the crease.

On retourne le sac avec le lin doré à l'extérieur et on repasse les bords. Ensuite on replie le bord du sac, et pour le fixer on fait une couture pour figer le pliage.

For the handles cut bands of fabric of 60cm length so that you can wear the bag on your shoulder. The handles are stitched inside the opening of the bag.

Pour les anses on coupe des bandes de tissu d'environs 60cm de long pour pouvoir porter le sac à l'épaule. Les anses seront cousues à l'intérieur de l'ouverture du sac.

The bag's pocket has in iregular cut, because this is how I bought this piece of leather at Sacrés Coupons (Montmartre) for 6 euros.
La poche du sac a une coupe irrégulière, car c'est ainsi que j'ai acheté ce morceau de cuir chez Sacrés Coupons (Montmartre) pour 6 euros.
